We’re looking for an Associate Agent for one of Australia’s premier agencies who represent a diverse roster of talent from writers & directors to actors & presenters, working across film, television, live performance and publishing.

They need someone at associate level or perhaps an assistant, ready to step up. You’ll work closely with established agents, supporting and learning the craft of representation while gradually building your own instincts, relationships, and voice.

Over time, you’ll move from supporting deals to shaping them, with the pathway to becoming an Agent within 2–4 years.

WHAT YOU’VE ALREADY DONE
You bring at least 4-5 years’ experience in a literary or talent agency, theatre company or adjacent industry environment.

You understand artist contracts, rights, and negotiations and have worked directly with artists and know how to manage those relationships. You have a genuine, informed engagement with Australian theatre and ideally have some exposure to screen.

WHO YOU ARE
  • You read. You watch. You care about quality.
  • You enjoy an industry-facing role, and seeing theatre, film, and new work and attending openings, events, and industry nights.
  • You also might hold a Bachelor of Arts (Theatre, Literature, Screen or similar), or equivalent experience. Some legal training would also be a strong advantage.
You’re also:
  • A strong communicator, clear, thoughtful, tactful
  • Someone people enjoy being around (this matters more than you think)
  • Confident and able to hold your ground with clients and producers
  • A team player who’s here for the work, not the ego
  • Focused, reliable, and consistent in how you show up
And importantly, you want to be an Agent, not the talent.

WHAT WILL DAY TO DAY LOOK LIKE?
You will work closely with an established Senior Agent managing tasks such as
  • Maintaining client project records and databases
  • Managing and distributing enquiries
  • Preparing for TV, film, and theatre meetings
  • Liaising with theatre companies; drafting licences and managing royalties/invoicing
  • Supporting negotiations across theatre, TV, and film deals
  • Assisting with pitching projects and drafting submissions
  • Coordinating industry attendance at client work
  • Tracking submissions and report outcomes
  • Building relationships with producers, networks, and theatre companies
  • Reading/reviewing scripts and preparing short synopses
  • Attending theatre and film screenings and industry events
  • Supporting clients with day-to-day career and contractual matters
